The Main Arena is brought to life through the support of Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi, celebrating learning, culture, and whānau fun at the heart of Funfest.
The Main Arena brings together some of the biggest and most popular free attractions at Funfest, creating a space where tamariki, rangatahi, and whānau can learn, play, explore, and discover together. Across four huge days, the Main Arena becomes a hub of energy, culture, creativity, and hands‑on fun.
Watercare Wonder Wai Discovery Centre
The Watercare Discovery Centre returns with a brand‑new name and an even bigger experience — the Watercare Wonder Wai Discovery Centre. This crowd favourite is packed with interactive games and models that bring the full water journey to life, from sky to sea. Families can dive into hands‑on activities for all ages and enjoy inspiring kōrero about the major infrastructure projects that keep Tāmaki Makaurau flowing
Kids Inflatable Zone
A massive playground filled with bouncy castles and inflatable fun for all ages. It’s high‑energy, colourful, and always one of the busiest spots in the Main Arena.
BBM Free Facepainting Zone
Bright colours, bold designs, and free facepainting for tamariki, proudly supported by BBM. A perfect stop for families wanting a bit of extra festival magic.
Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi Interactive Zone
A welcoming, hands‑on space where tamariki and rangatahi can explore learning, culture, creativity, and pathways for the future in a kaupapa Māori environment. Activities are designed to spark curiosity and celebrate knowledge in a way that feels fun, accessible, and empowering.
Auckland Council Mobile Waka
A roaming hub of books, stories, games, and activities that brings the library experience directly to Funfest. It’s a relaxed, creative space where kids can read, play, and explore.
Manukau Christian Charitable Trust Zone
A warm, uplifting space focused on whānau connection and community support. Families can enjoy creative activities, friendly kōrero with volunteers, and learn about the Trust’s long‑standing work supporting wellbeing across Manukau.
ISPY NITS Zone
A friendly, judgement‑free zone helping whānau learn how to spot, treat, and prevent head lice with confidence. Tamariki can take part in fun, interactive activities while caregivers pick up simple, practical tips that make dealing with nits easier at home.
